The eight functions
Fi: Introverted Feeling
"Is this right for me?"
Fi lives by an inner compass of values, and knows at once what feels true and what feels fake.
What it does
Introverted Feeling judges by inner values. It weighs everything against what matters deeply to the person, and it feels the difference between what is genuine and what is not. Jung described these feelings as intense but rarely shown, and used the old saying "still waters run deep".
It is the function of authenticity and conscience. It does not ask what the group thinks is right, but what is right for me and true to who I am.

The Fi and Te axis
Fi's opposite is Te. Fi asks what matters to me; Te asks what works. A strong Fi grows by giving its values a plan and results; a strong Te by asking what its results are for.

In the light: the ego
Your feelings are a private garden. Songs, small sentimental things and quiet kindness move you deeply.
Feelings are your soft spot. Under stress you can feel unappreciated, or flooded by emotions you rarely show.
In the shadow
Opposing PersonalityENFJ ESFJYou
Other people's strong personal values can make you suspicious. When pushed, you dig in on what you want, or treat their feelings as unreasonable. Made conscious, it helps you know what you yourself care about.
When you feel attacked, you become a moral judge: you condemn others as selfish or fake, and you hold grudges. Accepted, it becomes a deep, quiet integrity.
Your deepest fear here is that you are worthless, or bad deep down. When everything falls apart, it turns into cold self rejection or the wish to hurt. Met and accepted, it gives you an unshakable sense of your own worth, and of others'.
